Television, projection, red velvet curtain, Orbeez, sink, automatic bubble machine, plastic crystal shoe, flash speakers, etc.
When I watch East Asian soap operas, I feel uneasy about the unequal relationship between the hero and the heroine
(the man often holds a dominant gaze, while the woman is often positioned passively, looking upward).
Yet at the same time, I’m drawn to their fictional and fantastic worlds. A contradictory sensation runs through my experience of the soap opera.
I therefore construct a novelistic space: the videos on the television and in the projection show heroes and heroines looking at each other
men generally looking downward, women the opposite.
Objects and lights create a childlike, romantic atmosphere. Through the projection, the Cinderella figure activates the scene through performance;
she acts as the heroine of the series, waiting for a romantic rescue. She exists as an echo of these videos.
